that mother and that daughter -
now they are like sisters -
the younger one taking care of the other one -
now she is the one helping her to fulfill her dreams -

they look so cute together!

school daze . . .

Funny . . . I don't have children but I always want to buy school supplies when it's time for the kids to go back to school.  I bought two notebooks with 200 sheets each.  I feel as giddy as a school girl.  It was said of the artist whom I admire named M.L. that he is 'the recorder of the feminine form'.  'Hey!  I would like to be something like that!'  I thought.  I scribbled some notes on some of the drawings that I have done.  When I looked back at this one it said 'what should it do?'  What should what do?  I don't remember.  I bought a notebook.  Maybe next time I should write it down.

watercolor practice . . .

It was delightful to paint this ballerina.  The key for me was to have fun with color.  As you can see from the image above, I like what was happening down to the kneecap.  From the kneecap down to the foot - not so much . . .

a new and complex chair sketch my myra anderson - and the square in her hair was there . . .

If you saw the earlier version of 'and the square in her hair was there' I apologize.  It scared me too! I had to try this composition again.  I like this one much better.

and sometimes a bow . . .

'and sometimes a bow'
6x8 charcoal and watercolor on watercolor paper
by myra anderson
This painting is experimental.  Here I wanted the piece to be figurative - but I also wanted it to be about color.  I wanted color to be the key element without adding color to the whole painting.

There are at least 8 elements of myra art that I want to work on this summer.  I want to list them so that I will be sure to vary what I am doing.
1.  chairs (esp. a blue chair in a green room)
2.  'elegant' chairs
3.  ladies sitting in chairs
4.  'and sometimes a bow'
5.  butterfly bows
6.  dress mannequins, dresses as still life, dresses hanging on a clothesline
7.  a great pair of legs
8.  shoes

the girl with the butterfly bow . . .

Actually it's been a rough week.  Harvey has been out of town visiting his mother . . . and eating barbeque and visiting his mother and eating shrimp and . . . well you get the picture.  Tiny and I coped the best way we could - I had plenty of chocolate cake - and he had plenty of chicken.  Harvey will be back tomorrow!  If you recall,  this is my 'bow-cation' - my summer of drawing and painting bows - so I kept myself plenty busy.  Since I seem to be committed to bows I needed a new idea . . . 'ahhhhh' I said.  No more like 'ahhhhhhhhhh - a girl with a butterfly bow!'

a new and very complex chair sketch by myra anderson - hair and elegant chair . . .

Sometimes when I do a practice sketch I have no choice but to use myself as a model.  The only difference between me and the model in this sketch - is that I don't have four legs . . . (sometimes I crack myself up)
