ballerina fan . . .
As you may or may not know, I am supposed to be working on my series of 'great fan paintings'. With that being the case I thought that I should actually go ahead and paint one. First, inspired by Sharon Whitley, I wanted to experiment with using a map as the tutu. Funny, the map that I found was in an old book about Degas. Ha, ha, ha ha (me laughing). Second, I wanted to see how many different elements I could add to the painting before it drove me crazy. Okay. This was enough.
I thought that it was ingenious of me to add that little piece of green to make it look like the flower was extending. Pat, pat (me patting myself on the back).
However when I try this composition again, I would make the orange part green to represent the leaves. Sigh! (me sighing for not thinking of that in the beginning). I like this painting and I can't wait to try it again.
This work of art is by Tom Reisz. I would like to do a cut-out for my next interior! CONGRATULATIONS Lisa on your blog anniversary!
