lavender and lace . . .

Here is my drawing from the 'video' Lavender and Lace.  It just occurred to me that I made another mistake on the video which I must fix.  You try to be so careful but - live and learn . . . I will repost it when I fix it.  I love Wanda's art and I can't wait to see it again!

tiny bubbles by myra anderson and beautiful painting by wanda marie miller . . .

Myra Anderson
I know.  I'm like a rash.  I keep saying that I'm going on vacation - but I keep coming back.  The thought occurred to me that Lisa Graham SHOULD make a video and show me how to do those triangles.  Actually, she uses many mixed media techniques that I would love to learn how to do!

This is a drawing that I have hence ruined.  I wanted to do a 'dot video' called 'dots are like tiny bubbles'.  I like the drawing - but not the end result of the painting.  Let's see if I can do this drawing again sometime!

The last painting is by mixed media artist Wanda Marie Miller.  It is a beautiful, soulful and thought provoking painting.  The last line of her post featuring this painting said  'thankful for all the colors in my life'.  I would like to include some of her pieces in another project I'm working on entitled 'lavender and lace'.

Lisaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

In my last post I said that I wanted to draw 'that certain face'.  What do I mean by that?  Well I believe that every artist who does figurative work  has - for the most part - a way of drawing faces that identifies them when you see their art.  The drawings below are by artist Ryan Pickart.  His collection is beautiful, expansive and identifiable.  Since I draw faces 'in this particular way' (as seen above) I want to convey more 'life' in my certain faces.  This is the first drawing I did after I came to that determination.  I like it better than the last one - and I'm still working on 'my' faces!

Meanwhile, I have much respect for Lisa Graham.  As you can see, I thought I would try those triangles I told you about. IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I EVER TRIED TO DO!!!!!!  They left me cryin' like a baby and callin' for my mama!  Would you like to see what happened?

myra dot squared - chapter 2 . . .

There are certain things that I like about this particular piece.  Here I have taken some baby steps in using dots and squares.  I love the long 'square' in the garment.  I also love the 'little splatter' I made with the brush on the blue side.  What would I like to do better?  Well there is a 'certain face' that I want to draw.   My goal with this series is to . . . well I'll explain more in chapter 3.  I have asked some modern day masters if I could show a piece of their artwork in this video series.  One such person that I would ask is Helen whose work is shown below.  This piece is very beautiful.  It reminds me of how much I  love to paint my 'abstract floral ballerina series'.  When I saw this beautiful piece  it made me feel very happy!

myra dot squared - reposted . . .

Like I said - this was my first video using a new program. I'm hoping to do a better job on the next one. I thought it was a bit fast - I'm hoping to slow the next one down a bit.

myra dot squared . . .

Thank you to everyone who watched the video.
It has been a long time since I made a 'video'
and the first time I used this particular program . . .
UPDATE #1: I made a few little changes on the video and
UPDATE #2:  I spelled my own name wrong at the end and had to correct that!
Will be reposted soon!

lisa and lee and blue square dot dance . . .

Well, this turned out to be a nice experiment.  I used an interesting shaped lid for the large yellow dots and the red square is the stamp pad itself.  I am 'up in the air' about what I am going to do about my newspaper artwork.  I will be looking to the 'masters of fracturing and mixed media' like Jane, Janet, Janettmarie, Julie Ford Oliver, Helen, Marie and more for answers.  I am still on vacation but hark!  I just saw something . . .
Magnificent artwork by Lisa Graham

When I was fondly perusing Lisa Graham's art I noticed the wonderful textual qualities she achieved on this piece of artwork which is available at her web gallery!
If you look closely she used triangles to shape the dress.  Beautiful!  Where are my scissors?
Beautiful artwork by Lee of 'Defining Me'
Also Lee (Defining Me) used magnificent dots of dance!  Beautiful and creative!  Where are my pencils, markers and brushes!

paper ballerina - green tutu dot dance . . .

I know, some vacation right?  First I wanted to show you the mission below - to accomplish artwork using newspaper.  What will I do?  How will I do it?  I don't know.  In the meantime in my mixed media piece above I wanted to accomplish drawing the face and - I enjoyed making the tutu using five highly technologically cut pieces of paper (that I learned in my 'how to cut paper with scissors' class (joke)).  Anyhoo, I DID learn that you can take anything and use your stamp pad to make interesting designs.  You can use lids, spatulas, rubberbands, etc..  Here I used a top of a pen in order to make my dots - extreme I know - but fun.  Now - on with the vacation!

paper ballerina - square dot dancing . . .

Yes, according to my last post I am supposed to be on vacation.  But alas, there is no vacation in art.  Right again, I posted this painting yesterday - but she was missing a small square - thus placed in it's proper place - and the painting is finally complete.  I took the tip of the brush to make the small watercolor dots - elementary for you my dear - but a complete thrill for me.  I shall now return to my vacation - but - I saw something out of the corner of my eye . . . beautiful fantastic artwork - created on newspaper . . . must . . .investigate . . . see you soon!

sweets for the sweet . . .

I have not really had the ability to paint cupcakes the way I would like to.  Finally - this one is more in the manner in which I would like to paint.  I love it.  I can't wait to paint another one.

lessismore?

That's 'less is more?'  Sometimes it is and sometimes it's not.  With that being said, in the top drawing I experimented with using bits of paper to 'form' the face and in the bottom drawing I experimented with using 'extreme' color and an 'intricate' square to suggest the chin.  I love them both.

Julie you ARE the flower . . .

Subliminal suggestion:
Please contact me if you would like this wonderful 5x7 watercolor collage

I am totalee convinced that ALL arrtist's r geeniuses!  Why?  An artist must conceive an idea, determine how he or she will paint this idea and then (appropriately?) TITLE this idea!  Sometimes I think that the title is the hardest part!  I admire Lisa Daria Kennedy who has posted well over 1,200 paintings on her blog . . . that is well over 1,200 paintings plus 1,200 DIFFERENT titles!  How does she do it?  How do YOU do it?

Meanwhile, in my painting above I wanted to try this composition again to see if it would be delightful to craft a T-shape pattern in the top or garment.  IT WAS!  I painted this painting because  I love to paint the figure, flowers and abstract all smacked (an artist term) into one!

Finally, I love this excerpt taken from the blog 'Together We Think Funny'.  Isn't this how we want people to feel about our art?

ballerina yellow and blue . . .

Uh . . . I think I was under the influence of that little Lisa Graham and changed the colors on my blog!  I also thought that I would try something a little different and paint a ballerina (you know I'm just kidding).  Anyhoo, in this painting I wanted to see if it would be fun to add little crazy touches of color here and there.  It was!  Meanwhile -  I am very glad that Hilda is okay - I can breathe now!  I am really enjoying/appreciating Julie Ford Oliver's painting tutorial!  How wonderful of her to share. I am glad to see Janettmarie's blog again!  And, I wish Lee a safe return home!

This was a practice where I experimented with oil pastels - just like Connie Chadwell said.  They were delightful!

myra cupcake . . .

The third photo will tell you why I was suddenly in the mood to paint cupcakes.  Tiny has a pinterest board entitled 'tiny just a dog doing nothing'.  No, the photo below is NOT me.  Also several years ago I lost everything (along with many others) I own in a disaster.  It will take so much - so - a portion of every painting I have the privilege to sell will go to disaster relief - forever! Thank you for looking!
I don't know what's in there - but if you listen real close - it sounds like the ocean!

This is what's in there!

my scribbled ballerina . . .

Well, this is a 5x7 mixed media piece - uh - if you insist . . . anyway thank you for looking!  Meanwhile Tiny won't smile for photos!  You wouldn't believe that he terrorizes ALL of the neighbors . . . or would you?
I think I hear food!

myra paper ballerina . . .

This sketch was done on paper.  Here I wanted to just add a touch of this and a touch of that . . . a touch of paint - a touch of marker AND just a few pieces of paper to suggest the tutu.

floral blue couture . . .

Well, in this collage I wanted to see if it would be thrilling to cut small pieces of paper in order to form the garment.  I have to say IT WAS!  As in the first one - there is no tape (I recently discovered that there is colorful tape - I want some!) - just glued paper.  I took a piece of the black dot paper and tied a knot as you can see.  Next I want to vary the background to include other things - like cats and swans and birds - we'll see . . .
Tiny wishes that I would stop waking him up in order to show him my work . . .
